I actually got interested in this daily photo idea through Laura Johnson so I'd like to thank her - hopefully she'll unlock her site :) It seemed like an awfully good way to push myself a little harder, since I tend to spend to much time sitting around waiting for inspiration - sometimes you just have to get off your ass and make things happen! My original plan was to start this July 1st, but that slipped, so I'll fill in a few previous shots for good measure. Many of these shots are straight out of the camera, but I do use the GIMP to enhance shots that need cropping, better contrast, etc. that one would normally do in a darkroom. I will generally try to make a point of specifying when I do this for the photos in this gallery.

rmgarber > 13 August -
Lounging.
Edited for slight sharpening and white balance adjustment.
rmgarber > 10 August -
This heron was hanging out on the end of our dock this afternoon, when he suddenly flew into the water and came up with lunch.
rmgarber > 15 July -
I was so focused on the dragon fly, that I didn't even notice the spider until afterwards, but I think it adds an interesting element to the shot.
rmgarber > 12 July -
Same theme as Saturday's shot, this is Venus with a few remaining neighbors in the very early morning, about 90 minutes before sunrise. The only edit made to this image was to remove one obnoxious red noise dot.

I was actually trying for some cloud / moon shots last night, and ended up with this. Although the wind was calm at ground level (for a pleasant change), the clouds were being blown across the moon at a good clip. The tree in the foreground is what caught my attention here after the shot - it is actually very green, but the lighting from a fire behind me made it look almost like autumn. I also like the contrast of the flowing clouds with sharp foreground objects and stars.
rmgarber > Well, so much for being daily. I have, at least, taken shots every day, but between clouds, wind, and maybe a little attitude, haven't come up with anything I really liked. This shot is the underside of our deck, where the patterns of light during a brief appearance by the sun caught my eye. I increased the contrast, and darkened it a bit to emphasize the light patterns themselves.
rmgarber > Ok, a couple of these are from the same day, but I really liked this one too.
rmgarber > The yellow background caught my eye for this one.
rmgarber > This is really a picture of a drop of water, but the flowers turned out kind of nice too - and I completely missed the little critter in the upper right corner :)
Taken late June in Duluth, MN after a brief rain shower.
