Your Bio

I started taking pictures over thirty years ago - even had my own black and white darkroom. With digital cameras now able to compete with film, and some extra time on my hands, I find myself able once again to explore one of my oldest passions! I currently use a Canon XTi with a Tamron 28-300 zoom (love the image stabilization!) for shooting. For any post processing, I use the GIMP since it works on both windoze and linux and it's free.

iGarber Daily : I actually got interested in this daily photo idea through Laura Johnson so I'd like to thank her - hopefully she'll unlock her site :) It seemed like an awfully good way to push myself a little harder, since I tend to spend to much time sitting around waiting for inspiration - sometimes you just have to get off your ass and make things happen! My original plan was to start this July 1st, but that slipped, so I'll fill in a few previous shots for good measure. Many of these shots are straight out of the camera, but I do use the GIMP to enhance shots that need cropping, better contrast, etc. that one would normally do in a darkroom. I will generally try to make a point of specifying when I do this for the photos in this gallery.
